Safe As Houses have been working closely with Arlene Johnstone (Head of Services, Learning Disabilities and Autism, NHS Highlands) to develop a purpose built 500m2 facility located just outside of Inverness.
Together with our construction partner IBI and Architectural partner Studio K, we were able to create a fit for purpose new build property housing six one bedroom apartments with staff accommodation for individuals with complex Autism.
A purpose built 500m2 facility located just outside of Inverness.
The service is a single storey building which offers space for up to six individuals in self-contained apartments. There are two larger apartments along with some private garden areas. These are for individuals with more complex needs, and have been specifically designed by Arlene.
Each apartment is wheelchair friendly and contains a full wet room and underfloor heating supplied by air source heat pumps and low EPC water cylinders, making the apartments energy efficient. Fit-for-purpose features and fittings such as CCTV and window restrictors have been fitted throughout the property.
The property sits in its own grounds with communal and private gardens as well as a car park. The Muir of Ord village centre is also only a short walking distance away from the property.
Throughout the entire build we were grateful for the collaboration and support we received from our external partners at Key Housing and NHS Highlands.
