Phil Killen

Head of Services - Children's Services

Phil joined Safe As Houses with an extensive range of experience within the Health and Social Care sector. He began his career working in children’s residential settings and later progressed into managerial and business development roles within adult supported living and complex care services. Having held responsibility in an Ofsted registered capacity, Phil has overseen a large portfolio of therapeutic children’s residential services.

In recent years, Phil has worked in operational and business development roles at some of the largest Care Providers in the UK, such as Care UK and The Priory Group. He has been successful in delivering a number of specialist services for complex learning disabilities, mental health conditions and eating disorders.

Within his career, Phil has established excellent relationships with Local Authority commissioners, Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) and housing partners. He also has recent experience in providing high-quality services for care leavers aged 16 and over.

Starting his career in an operational capacity, Phil soon discovered that his passion was in business development. Having collaborated with Safe As Houses before, he knew that a role within the Care Development team would suit his skills and experience. For Phil, it was clear from the outset that the ethical core of enabling people to have access to high-quality and affordable homes was the reason for him wanting to join Safe As Houses.

Outside of work, Phil enjoys spending time with his family and is also a trustee for a local male domestic violence charity that is close to his heart.
