Andy McEwan

Property Evaluation Manager/Surveyor

Andy brings a wealth of surveying experience having begun his career as an apprentice in 1979. Having learned his trade as a surveyor in Glasgow, he joined DM Hall Chartered Surveyors in 1985 and remained with the firm until 2017. During that period of time he rose to become DM Hall’s Director of Surveying Services.

After a short stint working within an estate agency, Andy joined the Safe as Houses Care team in 2019, bringing the benefit of over 40 years of experience in construction and surveying with him. This is now brought to bear as he assesses the suitability of all potential projects and completes detailed surveys of properties that the team are considering.

His understanding of buildings and materials brings an outstanding expertise that is applied to all parts of the purchase process from physical surveys to valuations where required, to advise on the suitability of a building for its existing and proposed use. It is fair to say that Andy has found a role ideally suited to his skills and knowledge, building on his experience while developing in new areas.

Away from work Andy has a proud record of community service. He is a past chairman of Dunblane Round Table and is a member and past president of The Rotary Club Carse of Stirling.

Andy’s passion is history and he shares his enthusiasm with the public by conducting tours of Stirling for events such as Doors Open. Andy keeps history alive through his membership of the Merchant Guildry of Stirling and is the current Deacon of the Incorporation of Hammermen of Stirling, one of the Seven Incorporated Trades within the city. He is also a trustee of the Stirling City Heritage Trust. Andy is married with a grown up son and still enjoys watching football despite a lifetime of suffrage supporting Stirling Albion.
